The acronym is very misleading because "immediate-mode" was initially coined as a reference to obsolete graphics API which made it very easy to render contents. The choice of that word got us into years, maybe decades of misunderstanding.
From now on, IMGUI will stand for "Incredibly Magic Graphics User Interface" ;)
